Who is Barnabus Qwilch? An intrepid inner force who loves the art of seeking and applying the deeds of derring do? Sweeps into situations of bewilderment when all seems awry……by simply using his logical mind!
An eccentric grand-fatherly fathomer who delves deeply into finding out what is behind the concepts of alien happenings? Is there a destructive motive where outside forces seek to blight ambitions? Is something lurking and sinister applying chaos? How can Barnabus Qwilch bring about logic and calm that can banish the bewilderment and panic? Quiet the cacophony of dreadful worrisome noisy thoughts.
Barnabus Qwilch is currently very tired and weary. His logical mind is currently an inept jumping jack of hits and misses. Barnabus’s good friend Sherlock Holmes says……..
“I feel, for you Barnabus Qwilch, this is more than a three pipe problem!”
Yes! We, the XCerts, still need a drummer!!
I love the Holmes reference 😉 x

I need to start reading Conan Doyle again. I need to buy his Professor Challenger books again too. Cheers Ianto. Xx

We were once members of a Sherlock Holmes society, before the kids came along. It was good fun. I read the complete Sherlock Holmes when I was eleven and loved them. Jeremy Brett and Edward Hardwick were definitive for me, followed closely by Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce – absolute classics 👍

I read them very early too. I do have copies of the complete long and short tales. Angie has bought me many strange Holmes gifts over the years. Diaries, illustrated copies, etc. I have watched many of the acting adaptations over the years. Loved Rathbone and Bruce the most back then. But funnily enough I really love and prefer Robert Downey Junior and Jude Law now. They have really taken it over and given it a new angle. I gave my friend’s so the books of Tolkien and Conan Doyle when he was a young teenager. He is still fascinated. Timeless! Me? I even read them in an old vintage dressing gown and smoked a pipe. Just to get into the atmosphere of it all….😉 Cheers Ianto.

Barnabus Qwilch is a fascinating creature, Gray. I clicked also the article below this one and read another earlier article too (discussing Barnabus Qwilch). Joy in the creation! Well, maybe Joy is the wrong word when sleepless nights bring such out, but something similar perhaps… maybe fulfillment, or satisfying, or a way to change focus? Just enough to tire the mind without becoming irritated we aren’t sleeping. And now, just as I thought I would sleep, I spiral into thought again.
But for the umpteenth time, beautiful writing.
Still no drummer?!? Ugh
Barnabus Qwilch, I command a drummer to come forth for the XCerts!

I am going out just now Sheila……but like Arnold says ‘I’ll be Back’. Cheers.

Barnabus Qwilch is listening to your cosmic ordering Sheila. So fingers crossed. I’d love to have the imagination to create a lovely little character and take him places in story land. I did write stories about some mice once for one of my nieces. Me Old China and Tinkling Ermine (Pa and Ma mouses or meeces) and their family having a monthly adventure throughout the year. I think it got quite scary around Halloween though. She still has the little hand made books I wrote. She has a daughter of her own now, so she may read the stories to her. Thanks for taking the time to read the other upload Sheila. I have no idea what I wrote, so will go now to take a look. 😊

Ha! Oh, your “Me Old China and Tinkling Ermine” sound fabulously fun, Gray! And I bet she is reading those again now, to her child! How precious.
I saw Aphantasia written on one of the pages and recall much discussion on that too. All the best and cheers, Gray!

The mice were fun. She brought the little booklets to her Mum and Dads’ house when we were visiting them a couple of years ago. And, you mentioned Aphantasia, I remembered nothing of the stories! It was roughly 25 years since I had written them. So it was great for myself to re-read them again. The months’ specific days were the subjects of the adventure. Bonfire night, Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Easter, July’s Holiday Fortnight, etc. The mice were invaded in certain months by the Boogle Flip alien monsters determined to spoil the day. Not quite Barnabus Qwilch is it? The Boogles developed into the Snoogle Flip monster in my own current life. I find that monsters like to visit when insomnia exists. 😆 Cheers Sheila.

Ah, Snoogle Flip monster! Such a fun and whimsical name for a monster, Gray!
Yes, I really get tangled in the spirals at night. The later it gets, if I allow frustration in, I can be up half the night. Great way to describe it, Gray. Monsters visiting during insomnia nights.

Still not a great situation re: sleep. I read much on Covid after symptoms. Insomnia seemed of a high percentage. But as with all research, it is difficult to pinpoint the underlying reasons. Be they biological, psychological or sociological factors that impact sleep. And it has been a year and a half now since catching Covid. Positivity is what is and has been successful. But the winter weather here has been and still is atrocious. Has been for months on end now. Spring is around the corner though. 😊 Cheers Sheila.

Oh, I am sorry to hear that. We aren’t sure but probably had it too and may still be what’s affecting my knees and sleep, though sun gazing has helped me and blue blocker glasses. If I get lazy and don’t go outside first thing in the morning for 5 minutes without eyewear, or don’t wear my blue blocker glasses in the evening, I will be up for hours.
I have tested it several times, but yes, the cold weather threw me off track this last month with my sun gazing. I used to do my qigong outside too. Ugh

Sun is a fantastic bringer of good vibes. Can’t wait for a bit of warmth to accompany any brightness we get presently. I never did any exercise in the form of this discipline you undertake. Yoga has been on my mind recently though. Preferred to Dune Walk, Forest Walk within nature gently and take the camera. Never had any issues re: fitness until Covid bit. But this weather is bad presently and takes away the motivation to get out there. In Yorkshire it was very wet and windy on a few days and difficult to walk against. Can’t wait until Spring arrives. Cheers Sheila.

I love Forest Bathing as it’s known by in Japan. That just means taking a walk in the woods as you described, breathing in ALL awareness of nature. I will do a post on Qigong sometime. I talked about it years ago on my posts referring to Lama Nicholas Packard. He was amazing. Studied with the hard core masters in Tibet.
I love yoga but find qigong easier, no pretzel type posture. Qigong is ALL flow. Ha!

I had a friend very much into those disciplines. A very spiritual guy. And calm too. But I’m afraid I have a shifting mind nowadays and need smaller interventions. Yoga, particularly chair Yoga, sounds about right at the moment. The Nature Fix book speaks of Forest bathing/walking and how biological measurements and analysis is making the research feasible. I read about certain chemicals released by trees and plants that enhance the bodies natural defence systems. Killer T cells are % increased quite dramatically.

Yes, Gray, exactly (about the nature fix). Our world is so profoundly healing.

Not sure of a great link for reviews from people and how it benefited them. It’s because they are selling sites for the book. Like Amazon, etc. But the author’s own page is worth a quick read. It really is a quick read too, as I can see by your blog that you have been intense in reading recently. 😊

Fantastic, Gray! This looks like a fascinating read. I will add to my list. Williams is my maiden name too, so there’s that.
Cheers!

Well the Williams connection says ‘aligned as a must have’ then. Keep it in the family. 😊. I have read about half of it. It’s a pick up anytime book. Fascinating stuff. Cheers too Sheila.
