The M-Audio Crystal Pre-Amp interface (photograph above) that the cardioid Shure MV5 microphone is usually plugged into was used differently this afternoon. Due to buying the TONOR pre amp microphone booster (photograph below) for my old 1970s Shure SM58 dynamic microphone (which now plugs into the M-Audio) I experimented with the guitars in this interface for the first time. This afternoon I plugged my Bass guitar directly through the M-Audio and then the Vintage SG 6 string electric guitar too. This after recording the Bass first. An experiment to record guitars on an interface with an internal crystal pre amp booster and see if they felt brighter sounding for guitar use.
Well, in a nutshell, I had a great big smile on my face when hearing the clarity. The cheap as chips interface I usually use for guitars recording sounds extremely muddy and very poor.
BRIGHTER SOUNDING TIMES AHEAD…….YAY.
So now it will be good to get a decent guitar clarity. I just have to make sure they are all tuned properly before recording next time…..and played properly with no bum notes. I was too excited with the clarity of sound produced to bother with such considerations. Silly me! But remember you lovely people….I’m a bass player.
😊
Bass is in my core recognised inherent Chakra. The rest is ‘Out There’. But fathomable.
Four strings have taken years to get control of. Six strings! Nirvana unleashed and no idea of how to control the reins to wheel them in.
But at least you get an idea of how clear the guitar sound can get now using an interface with pre amp booster technology.
Below is my microphone pre amp booster.

Interestingly on the song ditty below, you can hear the muddiness of the electric guitar sound as used through the old cheap as chips interface without a booster. Interesting comparison when holding the sound up to the recording above.
THE DIFFERENCE IS DAY AND NIGHT.
