This was fun…..

This was, indeed, fun. Well. Apart from the length of time it took to get it uploaded onto YouTube. Blessed with a rural internet speed of 1 or 2, I could have watched series 1 and 2 of ‘Wednesday’ on Netflix in the time it took to hit the public worldwide space.

Actually, it will be far easier at the beginning of October when the fibre Broadband should be in situ here at home.

Groovin’ with Mr. Summers on Cloud 9. All instruments, apart from percussion drums, played by Gray Summers. Photographs too.

The book cover illustration in this video was by Jonathan Gross. He took photographs of Billie the VeeDub Bus for inspiration for his artwork. So…Billie is now famous!

This little ditty was a piece of Muzak I wrote with no purpose in mind. But I feel now it would make a quirky outro to future YouTube videos with content information regarding who and what was involved in the video. Images can easily be altered to make individual still photographs appropriate to the subject matter of each specific video content. I am no movie maker, so have got to get my thinking cap on.

Or better still…….my Tip-Top Hat. 🎩

Cheers all.

    1. It is magnetic poetry cookie. The grandchildren used to make up sentences when they were on the fridge at home. There’s a bag full of hundreds of words under the VeeDub back seat.

I reckon this quirky vibe here will be a great outro when the video content is more lighthearted. If more serious conversations or music specific genres take place, then a variety of more appropriate instrumentals will be needed. I’m still learning and thinking ideas through cookie. It’ll get there.

      All the best. 💫

    1. Smooth Summers Groove…….I like it. There’s a song melody springing as I type. 😉 When I was recording this Shep, I had a nice 1970s TV series sound going on in my head. One of those often visited gentle rural community series like Follyfoot Farm, The Shillingbury Tales, The Goodlife (although a comedy), etc. . Maybe even Worzel Gummidge. Later Lovejoy type vibes.

YouTube videos? I’m no film maker, but I wanted a consistent introductory familiarity short piece of music with the ‘And so the story goes….’ added to each future one for concept. And to get the important content connections involved at the end, it is an idea to have some appropriate instrumental to overlay contributions, thank you’s and reflected links, etc. from each video. Vlogcasts? I would love shared conversations and to play music with others. Shame you aren’t UK Shep. You’d love Wales.

When we went, as Team 23, supporting on The Specials second album promotional tour, Jerry Dammers was chatting about the Muzak vibe he was into. Evident in how the second album sounds. He was playing Kid Creole and the Coconuts first album too. Such a fantastic good feel vibe on that Kid Creole album. That period had a massive impact on me musically. So, little fun time Muzak instrumentals have been little melodies bobbling around in my brain for a long time.

Talking of familiarity and recognition. Visually in videos? My Dub is now working well, but it is only achieving 14 miles per gallon. That’s expensive with the need for using the more premium petrol grade of E5 at around £6.90 a gallon. So will need to find a few local spots to drive to regularly. I can’t do the beach all the time because it will rust up the Dub quickly. Love the sea, vibe….but salt sea air! Billie the VeeDub whispered in my ear and said….’Nah’.

Now I’ve got Groove Armada in my head Shep……’If you’re fond of sand dunes and salt sea air, quaint little villages, here and there’. Didn’t Bing Crosby once sing that tune.

      Cheers Shep.

      1. What did you just do! Sent me to YouTube to witness Get Smart, Painters and Dockers and Star Trek. Bizarre. Now I can’t get back to sleep. 😄 Never heard this one before. Now my future YT suggestions lists are going to be filled with crazy scenes of the ‘weird side of world’.

For some reason I began thinking of those subliminal suggestive Coca Cola images they micro second flashed up in the movie theatres in the middle of films…so you couldn’t resist and had to go and buy a coke drink in the break. I’m mind turntable spinning the ‘Thrill, Thrill, Thrill’ bit in the song. That’s because of how the gentleness seeking part in my Summersville’ brain works. 🕉️

By the way. Have you started writing a new single yet?

Cheers Shep. Thank you for the comment. Made me smile. 😊

Oh….PS. Seems Painters and Dockers are an Australian band. Bet you have seen them live. All the best.

      2. I’m with you, Thrill, Thrill, Thrill, but writing that might not have had you arrive at the destination. New single is already from my end, it’s a bit of boogie with a key modulation. Few things happening at the minute so recording hopefully in a couple of months – maybe. No, never did see them live, but have a couple of their albums. Take your cue from the Groovy Guru Gray and listen to the Sacred Cows while they lay their message on you, Gray. 🐄🐄🐄🤠

      3. I’ll dive deep into the Sacred Cows music Shep. I did like the groove on the Kill,… song. Glad to hear your single isn’t too far away. Boogie is my fave Bolan vibe.

I’ve just returned to the Earlybay VeeDub site for owners. 2022 was my last visit. Great community. Very much like here. One member welcoming me back said he knew a guy getting 30 mpg out of the same carburettor system as mine. The average is about 20 to 24. So 14 is useless really. Why I’m mentioning it is because I wanted to go to places along the West Wales coastline. Film a series of playing in different coastal spots. Meeting different musicians. I know a few local ones. But not many. But with not knowing the amount of petrol I have in the tank (broken petrol gauge) and the low mileage problem, it’ll have to be around my local vicinity.

I suppose familiarity is a comfort blanket for viewers. Cheers Shep. 🎩

    1. Thanks Stan. The village has no gas supply, so we run on electricity. We have oil central heating which isn’t exactly eco friendly. I spoke with a few of the villagers who are now happy that fibre broadband is now possible though. As you say, even slow, it is worth it.

I can wait quite a while for some of the bloggers I follow, who include lots of photographs, to download images and then enjoy their full pictures/words inclusions experience. My Mac is super slow on the downloads for GarageBand instruments due to internet speed. I wanted to add a lot of woodwind extras from the GB system. It took about half an hour. Possibly more. Once downloaded, it filed them into GB in seconds. Cheers Stan.

  1. Oh, what a zippy piece of Muzak you got here, Gray! I agree about it making a fun outro. And yes, love the video! I know you don’t consider yourself a videographer, but kudos on having the patience to create and then wait the long wait for it to upload to the ole’ YouTube! Ha! I’ve been there, done that too. But now, I can smile with good speeds here in New Hampshire land. (And not off the grid in the woods of northeast Florida). Ha!

    Sweet job on this, Gray.

    1. The British Telecom guys arrived this morning. Drilled a three feet hole from our living room wall to the outside world (yes our house walls are indeed 3 ft thick) and on connecting to the white external fibre box, connected the internal to external WiFi technology to everywhere on this planet. A micro second find from ‘is there life on Mars’…..is now reality. So, suddenly, from a speed of 1 to 2…..we now have upwards to 140. World internet life has now officially changed.

I can now stop twiddling my thumbs for half an hour…..awaiting upload completion and scared to touch the iPad screen in case it exits upload status and the need to start over.

    1. The engineers were so fast. And tidy. It was okay waiting for uploads and downloads taking their time. But when the buffering led to ‘time out’ and the screen shut down, it was frustrating having to start over. So now it means relaxation and confidence can be realised.

  2. I saved regularly when writing and typing essays. But when uploading a finished song, you are in the land of hoped for outcomes. Watching the % going from 1 to 100 and taking half an hour plus was nerve testing. Sometimes I’d get to 90% plus and it would spring up a notification and state ‘upload failed’ or words to that effect.
