Remixing. Gives insight to new song ideas.

Alongside recording new songs, it is nice to also remix some of the old existing songs from last year. Revisiting sound is an odd affair. Being away from the songs you put together, intensely back then, gives a different perspective on listening to them again a fair few months later. When recording, it is a huge undertaking to get a song finished. By the end…you can’t really see the wood from the trees.

Yesterday’s upload of the song Lighten Up is an example of revisit/remix. Recently two other songs, Faded Walls and Stop this Heartache, were remixed quickly too. I felt the results were worthwhile. Especially Faded Walls, because it has given the Frail Autumn project a ‘sound’.

New songs that are currently being recorded are actively seeking that echoing Faded Walls vibe. Mind you, the drive of Stop this Heartache is quietly inspiring too.

There is a constant though. I listen to everything on earphones. All content re: YouTube, here on WP if content requires listening and my songs too. The result is a more enjoyable listening experience. You hear depth and not tinny sounding results. Always 🎧 for myself. Otherwise, how do you understand the complexities of sound.

I did have a thought. My vocals have always been problematic for my ears. I simply do not enjoy listening to my voice. So, subconsciously, I mix it lower than it ought to be. These remixes brought the vocals up a few notches. Also, certain instruments were buried and disappeared in the mix. Faded into the darkness of oblivion so to speak. So a tweak of cajoling them back gently into the light was necessary.

Faded Walls.
Stop this Heartache.

Thank you for taking the time to listen.
