The Guild dreadnought D25 Cherry acoustic guitar.

The Guild. Bought about three or four years ago.

Having tested the charity shop Eko dreadnought acoustic guitar on the Mac M2 home studio recording system a couple of days ago, it was a quick check needed on the Guild guitar in a similar way. The Guild is built in the USA and mine is from around 1979. They are a much loved guitar and are often seen being played on YouTube to show their tone.

I remember reading that a fair few well known musicians were using Guilds from the early 1970s onwards. But not sure which particular models. I do love this D25 though with its arched back.

This below is how the Guild sounds. Rather nice actually.

Less is More.

I’ve just changed the strings. And particularly the make and gauge of the strings. The Elixir make I usually use are a heavy gauge and quite difficult to work with. So I put some Ernie Ball lighter strings on. With a bit of trepidation as I thought they may sound too thin. It still sounds unexpectedly deep still. So can now relax!

It’s Monday tomorrow and it will be nice to settle down and focus on getting at least 3 or 4 new songs done and dusted over the coming week. An intention to use acoustic and a gentle electric guitar ‘swirling echo’ overlay is the intention for the next four songs.
