Lyrics, ideas, motivation, a world of new sounds, intentional promises to self and others committing time and energy too…..and the ‘back to chill feel’ factor.
A million words for future song lyrics to choose from. A plethora of notes and chords to combine. Alongside the patterns and ‘deep to high’ resonant ‘notes to tunes’ of Bass guitar riffs? The mingle of mesh and singing voice.
The sirenic call that brings about a new journey and adventure. The return to being a musician.
Poetic ain’t it!

a musician, lyricist and … calligraphist! that’s some sweet handwriting

Are the same microphones made today as good?

I am a fan of a guitarist called Francis Dunnery. I was looking at how he records guitars/vocals on YouTube and it turned out as a really insightful piece of spoken advice. He said after 1980 the Shure SM58 simply does not match up to the USA made ones made up to 1980. I read they started making them in China but not sure of the date. Francis was saying they were not the same at all. Design was exact as per Shure, but he just knew they had changed performance quality and lost the gold standard. I’m not technical at all, so can proffer no knowledge really. But I used this same microphone in the band days and loved the ambient results. So looked for a vintage one. On eBay, USA vintage prices can be quite an eye opener. Cheers and good wishes.

Love it! The first photo of Cosmic Girl lyrics with chords and your artful additions… swirls… enchanting.

Thank you Sheila. I love just doodling down song thoughts alongside the lyrics. I have a blue A4 hard copy of a stationery book and wrote all the lyrics down in it when the songs were being written at that 1970s time. But unsure where it is presently. It had similar, but weirder, thoughts how the songs materialised and background insights.

What a cool and remarkable thing to do, Gray. I imagine it helps ingrain your train of thought during the process too.

Holistic energy maybe. They are my visual memories I suppose. The only link I have to knowing this stuff existed. Well, apart from a few dodgy cassette recordings. As per the next blog write up. 😊 All the best Sheila.

The handwriting scenario is strange. When very young, in infants school at about 7 or 8 years old, it was suggested I entered a national competition. This due to my style. I think it was a tea company running it. I had to write a poem out or something similar. When I finished the piece, the teacher looked at it and then scrunched it up and said I could do better. I didn’t! So, my handwriting became a strange case of subsequent teachers saying ‘Wow’. But it had no value anymore and I just did my thing. There was a teacher who had absolutely beautiful writing and so unique. He was an English literature teacher. He encouraged my expression and to seek new progressive shapes. I went and expressed in Art class. And got Grade 1 ‘O’ level a year earlier than the expected taking of the exam. So art and lettering became a holistic experience. Even in professional status fellow colleagues used to comment on writing. But my standard comment was ‘Cheers, but I’m my own worst critic and don’t see what you see’ and laugh. Since retirement? I have changed. I do find beauty in letter shaping now. I can’t say pride in my writing because the Buddhist principle is that pride is a no-no. But I feel freedom in the process of writing and no qualms re: others’ observations. I now find that I love quiet moments and visual satisfaction. So your comments are now wonderfully received. As other bloggers comments are too. So……🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Destiny.

interesting as seen, your handwriting as such from a young age. Naturally, you would take it for “granted” as with us… we appreciate and aah and ooh over such 😁
having come across many different types of writing in my teaching career… yours is truly a gift… as you say.. visual satisfaction.(envied a wee bit 😁just joking lol)
wonderful again, Gray.
a great day your way 🙏

Oohs and ah’s from us come out from reading your poetry skill Destiny. I believe pen and paper provides Mindful opportunities. And letting go without thinking too hard of where it goes allows the shapes to flow. Those rolls of wallpaper that are called ‘lining paper’ is brilliant for unrolling a section and just doodling and having a bit of ‘me time’. Hope you have a great day too Destiny. 🙏🏽
