Moving to the Rhythm of Life. Frail Autumn and the self written songs.

MOVING TO THE RHYTHM OF LIFE

Or

MOVE INTO THE RHYTHM OF LIFE.

This started with searching through synthesiser’s tracks. Got that weird undercurrent, played it in Am, Dm, C and E notes and then layered a drum pattern onto it.

Picked up the Vintage SG electric guitar and played 3 different chord/riff type patterns. I’m not skilled at 6 string electric level at all. Added my Fender Jazz Bass to that. Loved just feeling relaxed and playing Bass guitar. No struggles really as it’s what I play. Then picked up keyboard choices and layered and layered. Yup! Back to struggling again. Finally sang the vocals and a bit of ‘harmony’! Questionable. But………

It was a great bit of fun. A decent way to gather more knowledge about GarageBand capabilities. Now I understand the top bar ‘View’ option to change drum patterns and make hitting bum notes on keyboard chords a lot easier to remove. I can go into the chord template and delete little blips. The Akai keyboard is quite narrow and sensitive. So the slightest hit on a piano key peg next to one within the chord I play will produce a little note noise. You can see it and delete it.

These are great ways to just jump in, try a few things and take the rough with the smooth. No levelling out here. Just letting it all come at you. Mixing sound is going to be much further down the line. And again, repeating that old worn out ideal of mine……. Real musicians are what matters most in this project.

Anyways. It was a pleasant morning of experimentation. And a little more knowledge gleaned.

Louder. But through headphones? Much richer and individual instruments have more clarity.
My fave listening level. And my favourite result so far.
Not so loud

Move into the Rhythm of Life or Moving to the Rhythm of Life?

Are you already there? Or waiting to arrive?

I don’t know why

I’m living in a sea of heartache.

I should be high

Living up and having a party.

But oh no! Not me.

Oh no! Can’t you see.

Chorus:

Moving to the rhythm of life,

Caught in the passage of time

Moving all the way to a better place

I can call mine.

I’m lost in the rhythm called love

It’s something I can call my own

I found my way to that perfect place

I call it Home.

Call your name

Down through the winds of sorrows

Call out loud

Until I can’t face any tomorrow’s.

Oh no, not me

Oh no, can’t you see.

And so the story goes

To where? No one knows

Borne out of promises

Not worn out wishes…….

This was going to be a narrated outro bit: But I decided to sing my Blogsite Mantra….and so the story goes.

It’s a mystery unseen

Hides away in dreams and fantasies.

A history that never mattered much at all.

It’s standing there in the pale moonlight.

Hides away from the daylight.

    1. Cheers cookie. It’s interesting to be a part of this ongoing learning. I know there are YouTube videos where musicians build songs by simply playing sounds from GarageBand or equivalent.

But with my approach it’s a case of picking up any one of the guitars and playing over a drum track off GB. You can tweak drum tracks extensively. You just have an inherent idea of how you want the song to sound. Presently it’s just a start to finish beat. I’m toying with the idea of whether to look for drum pads and create my own rhythms. Or just learn more of how to really tailor the drums offered on GB. I’m not that bothered getting it right drum wise, because a real drummer needs to be on the ultimate desire of finished songs.

The electric guitars go into an audio interface and it’s easy to choose sounds as you would a guitarist’s floor pedal board. Tremelo, gain, fuzz, clean, etc. The Akai keyboard allows access to so many instrumental sounds it is mindblowing. So I access synthesiser, orchestral and keyboard sounds. Then you yourself play the chords or melodies you want by choosing a particular sound you want for each part of the song.

This isn’t what I want the songs to sound like ultimately cookie. It’s just fun getting them to a point of reality. Four or five musicians in the same room can heighten these ideas to my songs and produce superior results. But…….needs must presently.

Tunes, like your own songs, come from the heart. And applied to others playing your ideas……they, as proper musicians, can pour more emotion into the result. My results here are simply mish mash sounds that need a kick up the proverbial.

I’ll leave GB alone until next week now to see what’s next. Thanks cookie. Much appreciated.
