Frankie……..

I am no ‘I need a kitten, cat, puppy, dog, goldfish, hamster, guinea pig, rabbit, etc.’ fan. When the children were growing up? Yes. Those pets all found their way into Summersville here in Wales. It was usually after they arrived that it was myself that had the task of looking after the fundamental needs of such ‘Oh! We must have them’s’. Who did all the fundamentals after the promises of others being responsible? Yup……me.

So, on a visit to where my daughter, now 38 years old, is now living, but having to move into a larger rented property where pets are not allowed situation. There becomes a problem. Frankie was one of the kittens (of Peachy the Mother’s 4 kitten outpouring) that they wanted to keep. But cannot.

The current landlord of the house they live in now, is selling the property. And hence the need to find a new property…….quickly. Long story short….we have found a lovely ongoing larger house to suit two adults and four children. A perfect place. But not so perfect because it comes with a ‘No pets allowed’ status.

We visit my daughter, 130 miles away, to take lots of cardboard boxes for packing purposes. Peachy, the pure Bengal mother cat, has been given to a teacher friend of my daughter’s. Frankie is now the last kitten. Sadness is paramount! Who will have him they say!

The answer is written in the stars. Frankie jumps up onto the sofa, cuddles next to yours truly and starts to rasp lick my hand. ‘Hey!’ They all shout. ‘He doesn’t do that. He scratches and bites us usually. Why is he licking your hand’. I don’t believe them because maybe a dastardly plan is being carried out. They are making up stories to tug at my heartstrings. My grandson shows the results of said scratches. Okay…I rationalise….Frankie does love to see if his claws and teeth make a statement then.

Frankie is half Bengal. Father? Who knows. A Tom with Tom Bombadil’s ‘Hey dol, Merry dol…..ring a dong dillo’ spirit hopefully. What happened for Frankie to become future legend? Well, Peachy got outdoors one night and came back smiling. As said, Peachy is full on Bengal. Father unknown. Four kittens produced. Bengal is a breed worth Googling. I have. My mind is now scrambled. Why? Because Frankie the complicated Fella is coming to Summersville. Even after reading Bengal the breed. And the characteristics of such a cat are full on, and then some, complicated.

So. With the oddity in that I irrationally say ‘Maybe he can come to Wales’ as an instant reply. It is now reality. He will be picked up in a couple of weeks. Why say such crazy utterances Gray? Because I tapped into the emotional ‘please the family’ past. Those past moments of ‘Oh! We must keep him’ scenarios. So…..Frankie is now part of the family. With Gray Summers as the 99% responsible part of the family. Me 99% committed to the full on fundamentals.

When my daughter and grandchildren visit here in the future, they can see Frankie’s progress. So that’s nice. Me? Maybe a nervous tic or twitch will have developed over the ongoing time. But……then again….he did cuddle up to me. So it will all be okay in the end. I have a feeling he knows me as his soul mate. So a look from me to sort out the Frankie as a good vibe cat will be written in OM……..

    1. They named him after their fave singer Frank Turner Shep. I love Frank Turner too. Especially his Be More Kind album. So it was to be a double association whammy I suppose. So no Holly name associated involved. Although, now you mention it, my grandaughter’s name is Holly. My daughter born on Boxing Day. My granddaughter just before Christmas. Man…….it must be written in the wintery stars then!

Nice to know of Poppy the Puppy. So it is P/P Poppy Puppy perfect then with F/F Frankie the Fella/Feline vibe.

Love your single’s vibe Shep. Sounds like a great gig experience for the audience. I tapped into my wife’s ancient PayPal to get at the song download. At first, she freaked out the next morning thinking she had been account hacked. I had to quickly explain about all of the things that are truly important for me to instantly get into my life for well being. Especially when I exist in those early hours of the night, listening to decent music and knowing that certain heard music has to be captured and kept for ongoing comfort needs. Music that brings future smiles and heart strings twangs. She instantly agreed. Angie totally understands the camaraderie within WP land and the ongoing good vibes it gives to us musicians. Mind you, I bought a tambourine off Amazon after I got your song. ‘What do you need a tambourine for’ she says. So….you are considered far more important for my well being than a tambourine Shep! 😊

  2. Aww, that’s so funny/cute about Frankie licking your hand and thus, choosing YOU, Gray!
My son-in-law had a Bengal kitty for 19 years. She passed away just before we moved here, so Richard never met her. I met her on my many visits here over the last 8 years, and she never cared much for me. Very fun to read your story.

    1. He’s very much a ‘let’s see what happens here in the countryside’ cat. Whether it is ideal for the Bengal high energy nature. Currently in a large city centre, if he stayed there he wouldn’t have gone outdoor exploring so much. And now he is still in the family, my daughter and grandchildren can see his progress when they visit. Cheers cookie for the 👍 for Frankie Fella. Hope you yourself are finding inspiration for new song material.

    1. Very true Destiny. But, historically I am truly not a dog/cat owner type person at all really. But our grandchildren can visit and see how he progresses. And he will give much to the house vibe too. So all is good. 😊.

      1. same here with the dog/cat owner 😬
        lol, I have parrots though…caged up 🤣

those that have them do enjoy what they add to the house vibe…and the grandchildren are fortunate, Gray 🤭 I doubt I could or would when and if the time comes lol…

    1. Thank you. His Mother, my daughter’s cat, is a Bengal. She got out from the house overnight and so his Father is an unknown type. So the markings and fur length are not the normal Bengal standard. We will pick Frankie up next week. All the best.

    1. Hi Brenda. Good to hear from you. Bengals are supposed to be very vocal. So maybe backing harmonies are around the corner. It is said they ‘talk’ to you. They have a ton of unique oddities it seems. When his Mom, Peachie, was a pure Bengal kitten, I had to look after her for about two weeks here in Wales. We had the four grandchildren too. So it was a bit chaotic. Bengals do not keep still. So I am hoping Frankie, being a cross, is more characteristic of the imagined placid ‘Tom Bombadil’ Father.

My daughter, living in Worcester and in a house with a straight onto the street aspect, it was obvious Peachie would do a runner in the blink of an eye. Came back next morning with unknown inherent four kittens extra. So when they were born, all my daughter’s friends wanted one. Frankie was my daughter’s fave, so she wanted to keep him. The landlord is selling the house they’ve lived in for 10 years. So we have been hunting down a bigger house more suitable for the growing four grandchildren. But no pets allowed. Found a nice house now and they have the key. So they will be moving in gradually over the next two weeks. We’ll get Frankie next week some time. Should be okay re: settling down into a countryside situation.

Hope you are keeping well. And looking forward to the Christmas break. I should imagine your blog themes are ideal for places of interest and their Christmas festive spirit inclusions. All the best Brenda.

  3. It will be interesting to hear about Frankie’s contribution to your musical endeavours. I think i remember you talking about looking after the kitten for your daughter, along with the grandkids. She can’t have been very old then, as a mum

I hope your daughter and family settle into their new home. Ian imagine Frankie will love his new neighbourhood

Things are same as ever with me … work, work and more work

    1. Thanks Brenda. I remember chatting about the kitten back then. Not long ago was it! Last year around summer time I think. Because it was a non expected situation. My daughter just turned up with a very lively kitten here in Wales. Hoping Frankie is calmer than his Mom.

Shame regarding the new house and no pets situation. But things are so much better re: space for them all now. Four bedrooms. I believe things happen for a reason. So wait and see what happens now concerning Frankie up here in Wales. The grandkids were full on kitten love, so he’ll have some great future times here when they visit. Cats must have fantastic memories.

This writing music again has been a weird experience. A simple phone call from October last year and my spur of the moment ‘yes’ commitment answer to doing that reunion gig. Now? Since starting and recording onto the new home Apple Mac system back in April, a fair few thousands of Worldwide listens collectively to the songs have happened here on WP. So maybe the Bandcamp and YouTube uploads next year may be good for both my own, my brother Steve’s and John the drummer’s well being and positivity. We have been musicians from teenagers. So it’s nice to have something to look forward to, in elder years, with the Frail Autumn project next year.

Be gentle on yourself with workload Brenda. I am watching Angie running herself ragged with work and family commitments currently. And, yes, I know there is no escaping the craziness of said commitments. One’s health is so important though. I believe Frankie will provide a therapeutic focus for Angie. Ever thought of finding a kitten for yourself Brenda? 😊 All the best.

      1. That’s a shame Brenda. My brother has allergies too. Short haired animals like horses and guinea pigs. So can understand the massive impact it has. Have been down to Worcester to help with the house move since Friday morning. So Frankie was being looked after and understood more! Looks active…..very active! But a kitten does eventually become a cat……hopefully. 😳😊 Cheers Brenda.
