Currently, whilst writing many lyric ideas down for the new songs, a thoughtful intrusion as to where to seek inspiration enveloped the mind.
Frail Autumn as a concept and particular sound vibe involves both self analysis regarding older age and the time of life where reflections over decades can be considered. Having lived decades and always seeming to find a way through all that was thrown at the growth and experiences of life’s journey from teenage youth and onwards, there is enough in that weird catalogue of conundrums and glorious times to draw upon. Themes from many a scenario of events. Stories from life are a very rich source for inspiration.
Also, which musical identity should be adopted regarding inclusions to the Frail Autumn sound. The first thought, as has been for a while now, is simplicity. The song ‘Faded Walls’ has no simplicity of sound because my electric guitar was troublesome. I have every intention to re-record the specific track that belongs to the guitar part in the song. Why? Because I had to send my Hohner Les Paul L75 electric guitar to be ‘set up’. It kept going out of tune, intonation was appalling, could not create and contain an octave in tune and even half way through a song would go massively out of key.
I HAVE TO MENTION THAT I ALWAYS LISTEN TO ANY ONLINE MUSIC EITHER THROUGH HEADPHONES 🎧 or THE BOSE BLUETOOTH SPEAKER. IF LISTENING ON THE IPHONE OR IPAD INTERNAL SMALL SPEAKERS? A VERY REDUCED DEPTH TO SOUND IS EXPERIENCED. CHEERS.
My brother picked up the beautiful Hohner yesterday from the amazing guy that did the work on the guitar. My brother says it sounds great now. So I will go down to pick it up this weekend. A 260 mile round trip! That’s how keen I am to get it back. And is why I want to record the guitar part on ‘Faded Walls’ again. Also, it will give me the opportunity to add some little lead guitar melody halfway through in there too.

Which of the other songs written encompasses the ideology of future channeling the ‘Frail Autumn’ vibe onto other new captures. As said, I gravitated to ‘Faded Walls’ for sound vibe. Lyrically? The song ‘18 years was 50 years ago‘ is one that provided lyrical happiness. The lyrics flowed in a fifteen minutes lightbulb joy. However, 18 years was far different from Faded Walls sound wise, so I remixed it this morning. Gave it a bit more ‘ooomph’. Upped the bass depth and tweaked the dynamic too. Now? It sounds like a keeper.
18 years was 50 years ago. Now beefed up and ready for a new inspiration for ongoing writing.
These two songs are the base to a new collective. Next week, ‘Where in the World’ and ‘Today’ are going to be finalised. Two songs nearing completion lyrically and instrumental inclusions wise. After those, a song, or couple of songs, a week can be realised.
Fingers crossed then ‘me hearties’.
Cheers all.
