Video. Such a strange word.

Sepia Angel.

With the required dynamic removal of the content I have had over years on this WordPress site, lots of the uploaded songs I had here are now gone. In the main, songs on video, which are on YouTube, can be linked as the allowance of content ‘space’ won’t be massively compromised.

As the removal and downloads were in progress, I was chuntering to myself. ‘This one, that one, where, which, how, ….’ Many questions of safe removal. The word Video was mentioned a lot to self. It then began to become one of those words that every so often become a strange sounding one. Basically …. Semantic Satiation. Gibberish.

I used to upload videos and audio directly onto WP, but it swallows up the allowance for content limits.

Yesterday’s blog explained about this site reaching 90% full for blogs and their media inclusions (audio, video, photographs) content. I do pay WP for the yearly middle tier package, alongside a Google web site page cost, but am not paying out for the higher ‘professional’ cost. This site is simply a hobby. Not a business.

So, a lot of my blogs were put into Draft status and their ‘media’ was removed from each Draft blog yesterday and downloaded to an external hard drive for safe keeping. I kept the blogs because many wonderful comments exist on them. They sit there currently safe. But have photographs, video and audio inclusions missing. Bare bones I suppose.

What I shall do for songs that are no longer here, but on YouTube, is provide a link. Maybe one or two a day.

Other songs, not on video? They were just audio bar examples of songs in infancy, etc. Safe, but no longer here to listen to.

Here’s a link to Be Bop Groove. A little ditty.

Apart from the drums, which were from the GarageBand drum library, all instruments, basically Guitars and a bit of keyboard one finger prodding the keys melody, were played by Gray Summers. That’ll be me then.

Be Bop Groove.

  1. I really understand you. Put the songs on YT and edit the posts – replace the locally uploaded song with the YT link. For these only audio, make a still image as a video. Very simple. Everything in one place plus backup on home hard drives etc. Hope this helps my friend.

    1. Thanks Victor. Yes, that is what I am doing now. I’ve replaced a fair few and deleted some of the local ones. Still a fair few to go. The Audio only files? I shall see how much the % level reduces once the videos and photographs are sorted and totally removed from the draft blogs, then maybe just upload a chosen few. It has taken hours on hours on this so far! And around 700 plus photographs have been deleted off WP draft blogs after firstly saving them onto the Crucial 2Tb external hard drive. And around 70 song audio files have had the same process happen too.

And yes Victor. Your suggestions do help very much. So much appreciated.

      Cheers. 🙏🏽🍁🍂

    1. Virtually done now Victor. The YT idea, you also suggested, has worked out nicely. Great minds think alike hey! 😄

Some audio bars are therefore able to be still kept in specific Published blogs. These blogs had many lovely comments from this community and were precious. It’s because my Media allowance is now at 40% used I can stop deducting and deleting files now. So from 90% plus used before I did all this to 40%? That’s pretty good really. Plenty for ongoing blogs.

Cheers my friend too. All the best. 🙏🏽🍁🍂

    1. I had to smile Victor when you said this. I reckon the most boring bit will be that each song audio I downloaded has a long number info identification and not a song title. So I’ll have to listen to them all again on the hard drive and rename each one. 😄

    1. Hi Victor. Sorry for the late reply. I found this in the App comments as unreplied. I do wonder at times if Jetpack go missing at some points.

I believe I did reply to this. But, if it didn’t arrive, the clean up went nicely. If anything does go wrong on some blogs, hopefully I catch the mistake and make it right. Cheers.

    1. Thanks for dropping by Destiny. This made me laugh. That one is a weird one too. As is chuckle. ‘It made me chuckle’ said a few times loses its meaning.

Words are very unique. Some suit what they represent. Some simply are difficult to link to the thing they represent. ‘He had a good chuckle to himself’. 😵‍💫 Mainly the brain blips out. Brain fatigue with most words heard at times all together can just jumble the synergetic meaning into gobbledegook.

And you seeing ditty as dirty is also a common event with tiredness. Made me smile though with that particular word. I’ll never see it the same again.

      Cheers Destiny. Thank you. 🙏🏽🍁🍂
