Bibliomancy.
I knew of the word meaning to bibliomancy. But never really applied it as a subject of investigative need. And here it was. Written down in the introduction within the book above.
I have often felt that upon opening specific familiar books I possess, that they can provide answers many times. Not always necessarily religious or spiritual books in nature either.
But here I am, in reading a book more closely, and not speaking of seeking and finding knowledge to conundrums. And it provided an answer. Albeit, it has a very spiritual content theme.
A specific time in life can surround itself with no awareness of need to look for either support or answers from outside sources. Then you open a book. A sentence or a paragraph from either a fictional or non-fictional book that is being read can suddenly, through happenstance, provide answers. They suddenly enlighten you to something going on at a particular time in your own life. Almost as if the message were being sent to you from an outside source that has guided you right there, in the here and now, and provided sustenance. Providing some form of guidance to possible subconscious thoughts that you are burying deeply to avoid confronting them. Recently from a book I read.
‘In winter I want concepts to chew over in a pool of lamplight; slow, spiritual reading; a re-enforcement of the soul. In winter, I can spend hours in silent pursuit of a half-understood concept, or detail of history. There is nowhere else to be, after all’.
From ‘Wintering. How I learned to flourish when life became frozen’ by Katherine May.
As I always think of my Mantra each day. ‘And so the story goes. To where? No one knows. It’s born out of promises. Not worn out wishes’. I only think of it each day due to my having a melody for it. So it becomes an oft sung piece of safety net. Sung over filling the kettle for the making of a chai tea. Re-aligning the off kilter mission to Summers’ aims to stay focused and continue made promises to self. Hence, ‘I can spend hours in silent pursuit of a half-understood concept’ resonating within my own mind’s philosophy.
Am I lonely in this time of year? Sometimes. Often not. However. I believe Angie thinks I need to get out more. She bought me a book a few weeks ago called ‘INTO THE LONELY WOODS. TRANSFORMING LONELINESS INTO A QUEST OF THE SOUL’. Yes, its title is written in capital letters. It is written by Lucy Cavendish with artwork by Dan May. My initial thank you to Angie was followed by a quick flick through and a promise to her that I would read it later. The words in the pages on flick through didn’t initially connect because opposite each page of words is a full piece of artwork. So it became pure glance work between word content and a focused ‘Wow’ at each piece of art. I thought it was a mythical story. Or…..In reality, it actually did make subliminal visual word contact with true understanding of the concept of the pages and I simply avoided confronting its theme and hence the ‘later’ promise.
Having picked it up this morning, I was ‘Wow’ at both the artwork AND the, now truly focused, word content. The words are a collective of singular transformative insights as to setting out on a pilgrimage for enriching one’s soul. The beginning of the book suggests simply dipping in or reading through. Whichever suits. I suppose opening up a random page allows the words to impact and give pause to reflect. Each chosen singular random message may well tap into those subconscious thoughts. Opening up page 69 randomly stated, in amongst the rest of the words, one sentence.
‘The solitude you have experienced means you have more to share, more than ever before’.
Well! Ain’t that the truth. But it is only with the opportunity to express new ideas, music, conversations through here on WordPress that I am able to simply acknowledge this as the ‘truth’.
All of us blog authors write in particular ways and choose different themes. But I feel all of us want to share positivities. And how we find those positive pathways. If our experiences in what we undertake to write about are of any value, even to one individual person, then it is all worthwhile.
