Some favourite Dune photographs.

Mother’s protection. Photograph by Gray Summers.

These are the ones I have taken that can be counted on a couple of hands that shout out the fascination of the Ynyslas Dune experience. Not the warm and coloured sunny and shaded aspect creating gentleness in the shadows; or the ambient air of sun/sea light reflecting and moving to and fro on the whispering grass telling you their stories; or the smell of the sea with wave noise but a whisker-kisker away.

The Dunes to me were also trodden in Autumn and Winter time. I found a Gothic quality involved. And so tried to capture the nature of that Bill Brandt style presentation.

      1. No problem. I’ve been going through some of the blogs I put into Draft status in order to keep them. There are about two hundred plus in there. I did many on impulse, but will leave them now. Being on a break I decided to give them a fresh airing. Update the date from initially published.

      1. I know. I have different choices from yours. But I was present and that makes a photograph take on extra meaning. Like writing a song. Shows you did look at the photos with interest. Brilliant. I will get more images taken when the outdoor light improves. Cheers Sheila.

    1. Thank you cookie. You would love the Bill Brandt, Ansel Adam’s, etc. Old B and W’s images were my passionate subject for a fair few years. You are so correct in how they hit differently. I never shot digital at all. Always film. And developed photographs with a vintage Wetzler Ernst Leitz enlarger. It is a fascinating process being in a darkroom in the quiet and watching the images appear under red light. Cheers for the ‘great’ comment cookie. Much appreciated.

    1. Thanks Pascal. I only use film. Haven’t got a digital camera and certainly no clue how to use one. Influenced by the photographer Bill Brandt. Especially his Wuthering Heights photograph. Gothic atmosphere is achieved with a high contrast choice on darkroom printing. Cheers.

    1. Hi Destiny. Thanks for asking. Been very focused lately on getting the music situation sorted. Booked a rehearsal room last weekend playing five of the old XCerts songs with my old Team 23 drummer and my brother. First time the drummer and myself have met in 42 years. So very emotional. First time the three of us have actually played together as a unit too. It went really well for a new adventure.

The guitarist who was in the original XCerts has backed off the project. Too busy playing the tourist bar circuit in Spain. He has joined a bunch of local musicians and they are doing covers. So I cancelled our intended XCerts gigs for July. A new project is now in its infancy of working on old and new songs and we will be focused on going into the studio over the coming months of this year. Been a bit fractious over the last month. Roller coaster stuff emotionally.

Next week intentions are that I shall get back into reading my favourite bloggers. So much comfort found there. Lots to catch up on reading your poems and others’ insights too. I looked at cookies latest 3 late last night. So….a start. I am sure you are still giving inspiration to others with those beautiful poems/words of yours. I’m looking forward to reading them. Cheers and all the best Destiny. 🙏🏽

      2. Very thoughtful of you and much appreciated. It has been a difficult four/five weeks rearranging hopes and plans because I am the only original XCert left now. I have my brother on guitar and a drummer, so can be very thankful for that. Also it helps pushing positivity to find getting the mojo back. This year’s end has to have something to show that it was the right decision to get back into being a full on musician again. I love the thought of recording new songs, but so expensive with booking a studio! Playing live will hopefully be a summer thing. Ah well. It’ll all be okay! Cosmic ordering as I type. Cheers Destiny. 😊🙏🏽
